A CHARITY has been able to buy new office equipment thanks to a Leigh-based housing provider.

Adactus Housing Association bought the equipment for Winston’s Wish, a national charity which supports bereaved children, to assist in setting up their new service in Wigan.

The project will support young people aged up to 18 in the borough who are struggling to cope with the death of their mum, dad or close relative.

The specialist service will provide in depth face to face support, drop in and groups sessions. It’s expected that more than 300 children will receive support to tackle the damaging consequences of unsupported grief.

Lindsay Greenhalgh, Adactus’ neighbourhood development officer, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to support this work through our Neighbourhood Fund.

“It is a fantastic charity helping children come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. The staff and volunteers make such a positive impact on people’s lives.”
