A NEW £5 million Cancer Care Centre will open to patients in December, it has been announced.
The centre is the result of a partnership between Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL), The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support to bring together cancer care services for people in the borough.
The centre will offer 12 chemotherapy treatment areas, counselling facilities, a complementary therapy suite and a Macmillan Information and Support Service – which will also have information pods on the Leigh Infirmary site.
WWL, The Christie and Macmillan staff and volunteers will move in to the new building at Wigan Infirmary in December and shortly after the centre will open to patients.
