A WOMEN'S charity is opening its door to men for its next meeting when former rugby player Allan Jones will be the guest speaker.
Aglow Leigh, a Christian ministry, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has returned to holding its twice yearly meetings at Leigh Cricket Club.
The next meeting is Thursday, September 10 when Mr Jones will speak about how he turned to religion and has worked in more than 80 countries.
He was a rugby captain at grammar school and trained with Wigan Rugby League. After leaving school he played Rugby Union as a prop-forward and worked for Pilkington Brothers as a research development physicist before leaving industry to teach physics, maths and sport.
After a dramatic experience from what could have been a tragic accident, he turned to religion.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm, tickets are £7.50 including supper and can be reserved by calling 07968043307. Evening visitors are also welcome at £2 (no food).
