REMEMBER those beloved first computer games like Colin the Cleaner and Sensible Soccer?

This year Wigan Borough’s digital festival GOFest will take on a retro theme as those classic games for the Sega Mega Drive and Commodore 64 come back to life with gaming sessions at Leigh and Wigan libraries.

The week of activities, starting on Saturday, is designed to help people find out more about how the digital world can help everyone – from paying bills to discovering a world online.

People can learn to write programmes at a series of Hot Chip sessions. Or if it’s just help needed for iPads or a natter at a tea and tech party there is plenty going on.

Deputy leader of Wigan Council Councillor David Molyneux said: “This GOFest promises to be a packed series which will offer something for everyone whether they are a complete novice right through to those who know their chips from their codes. The events will be a lot of fun yet it is also really important for us to get people to embrace online life which is one of the key part of The Deal we have with residents.”

For the full programme go to www.wigan.gov.uk/gofest or visit your local library or life centre to find out more.

If you want to learn how to get online you can also call 01942 489009 to find out more about a range of courses on offer across the borough.
