LEIGH Centurions life president Brian Bowman has thanked the staff at Pennington Tea Rooms for helping to make his and his wife Marian's diamond wedding anniversary such a special occasion.
They celebrated the 60-year milestone with a special afternoon tea date at Pennington Hall Park.
The treat was organised by Centurions staff and the couple were inundated with cards, gifts and well wishes from Leigh supporters.
They even received a hand-written card from the RFL’s chief executive Nigel Wood.
Brian said: “We had a lovely day at Pennington Tea Rooms, and I cannot thank everybody enough for making it such a special occasion for Marian and I.
“The staff looked after us tremendously and gave us a very memorable day indeed.
“I don’t know how so many people knew it was our diamond wedding, as we hadn't really told anybody about it, but it was lovely to receive such a large number of congratulations.”
