A GROUP of brave fundraisers jumped out of a plane in aid of Wigan and Leigh Hospice on Sunday.

The 38-strong group included widower Keith Whalley from Hindley Green, who raised almost £700 in memory of his wife Julie who died at the hospice in July.

He said: “I really wanted to do the sky dive last year as my wife Julie had been in and out of the hospice for a long time and I really wanted to do something to raise money for them.

“This year I felt it would be a really lovely way to remember her and to do something really positive in her memory.”

The annual skydive at the Black Knights Parachute Centre near Lancashire gives hospice supporters the choice of jumping from 11,000ft or 15,000ft.

Once all the sponsorship money is in this year's skydive will have raised thousands of pounds for the charity.
