AN ANIMAL neutering and rescue centre is holding a summer fair to raise money in memory of a dog found dead in a Leigh park.

The event on Saturday is being organised by Atherton-based charity Neutering4paws in Kingsleigh Methodist Church, on King Street, in memory of Staffordshire bull terrier Roxy who was found in a stream in Lilford Park in March after being beaten to death.

Tracey McMahon, from the charity, said: “We hope to raise enough funds to neuter other bull breeds to continue to help other animals in the area.

“We need support to help and support other animals in memory of Roxy who was brutally taken too soon.”

The fair will feature stalls, live music, refreshments and a karate demonstration at 12pm.

Entry is £1 or a tin of pet food.
