THE Big Bike Revival campaign is coming back to Leigh encouraging people to climb back in the saddle.

The campaign aims to get residents to dig out their bikes and give it the TLC it deserves at a choice of free community workshops.

The workshops will run until Saturday August 6 and will be at various locations.

Run by the national charity, Cycling UK and supported by the Department for Transport, initiative is being delivered across the borough by cycle recycling group, Gearing Up.

Simon Dale of Gearing Up said: “We are offering a choice of free community workshops where you can have your bike checked over and made roadworthy.

“Cycling is a fun and sociable way of keeping fit, however it is easy to get out of the routine and the next thing you know, your bike is gathering cobwebs and needs a thorough service.

“Don’t let a punctured tyre or rusty chain put you off from climbing back on your bike.

“You can come along and also meet like-minded people and find out about cycling routes, organised rides and cycling groups and what is great is there is no need to book, just bring your bike along.”

The Gearing Up team will also be accepting old bike donations so they can send it off to a new home after they have upcycled it.
