TWO men and a woman have been charged with kidnapping after a man was allegedly bundled into a car in Leigh last Wednesday.
Kyle Turton, 22, of Cameron Street, Leigh; Robert Sheppard, 26, of Fell Street, Leigh; and Alexandra Oldfield-Baxter, 22, of Keats Close, Atherton, appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Friday.
They were given conditional bail and their next court appearance will be at Liverpool Crown Court on September 16.
Police say they headed to Twist Lane, Leigh, at around 8.30pm last Wednesday following reports of a man being forced into an orange Ford Focus that drove off towards Atherton.
They issued an appeal for the man to get in touch after the alleged incident, promising that his safety was their 'priority', but they released a statement last Thursday saying that he had been 'found safe and well at his home'.
Detective inspector Paul Rollinson, of Greater Manchester Police’s Wigan borough division, said: “I understand that an incident like this will cause concern in the community.
“I want to reassure the public that we believe this to be a targeted attack that poses no threat to the wider community and we have stepped up patrols in the area.”
