LEIGH Spinners Mill will launch the opening of its new art gallery this weekend.
With a plethora of local groups and organisations taking up space inside the historic mill, the gallery is the latest addition to the burgeoning community hub.
Named the 'Horrocks Gallery' after the family who funded the development of the Mill, it will be on display on Floor 4.
The latest floor to be repurposed, Floor 4 will be home to a community of artists, galleries, studios, and theatre groups.
To mark the opening of the gallery on Saturday, September 3, the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (AGWSD) will host an exhibition that harks back to Leigh and Spinners' industrial heritage.
The theme for the event is coal, cotton and canals; encapsulating the industrial era of the town through the artistry of the Guild.
Jo Platt, General Manager of the Mill said: “We are pleased to officially open our new 'Horrock's' gallery and exhibition space on floor 4 alongside the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.”
“The space is named after the Horrock's family name that built Leigh Spinners Mill, whose involvement and support remains to date.
"I would also like to extend my thanks to the artists, businesses and local contractors that helped develop and create the space over the last few weeks.
"A lot of hard work has gone into the project, which is now open for the community to enjoy.”
The exhibition will take place on September 3 and September 18, from 10am to 4pm on the Spinners Mill's fourth floor.
