TYLDESLEY's footballing star Ella Toone has been named amongst the world's best players for 2023.

The England and Manchester United footballer was recognised at The Best FIFA Awards 2023 in London on Monday, January 15.

Lionesses coach Sara Wiegman was named best women's coach for the second successive year, with seven of her squad making it to the FIFA FIFPRO Women's World XI.

This included goalkeeper Mary Earps, defenders Lucy Bronze and Alex Greenwood and Keira Walsh, Alessia Russo, Lauren James and Tyldesley's own Ella Toone - who said she was "honoured" with the selection on social media.

Toone's selection comes after the Lionesses' Euro 2022 win, their run to the World Cup final, and her performances at Manchester United in the Women's Super League.

After breaking her nose in a friendly against PSV Eindhoven, the United midfielder was the FA Cup hero against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, as she scored one and assisted another while wearing a facial protective mask.

The footballer also announced the launch of her new brand 'ET7' last year, with "loads of exciting things" coming such as an 'ET7 Academy' dedicated to women's football, as well as Ella-branded accessories and an online store.
