A MOTORIST has been fined for driving at less than 70mph on the motorway.
David Berry appeared recently before Manchester Magistrates' Court to face a charge of exceeding a variable speed limit on the motorway caught by an automatic camera device.
Berry, aged 49 and of Pocket Nook Lane in Lowton, was driving a Ford Transit van on the M62 westbound on June 17 last year.
Between junctions 11 for Birchwood and 10 for the M6 at Croft Interchange, he drove at 62mph – in excess of the 50mph speed limit in force at the time.
The case was found proved by way of a single justice procedure and he was ordered to pay a total of £398.
This is broken down into a fine of £220, surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and court costs of £90.
In addition, magistrates also endorsed his driving record with three penalty points.
