Featherstone were targeting this game as a chance to climb above us.

From a performance point of view I was very pleased with it overall, especially the defence, which I thought was awesome on a difficult day.

It’s difficult at Post Office Road at the best of times but with the wind gusting as it was it was easy for it to make the game a lottery in many respects.

Early on Featherstone got a chance to kick a penalty and they kicked a penalty. They were playing downhill in the first half and I thought we defended really well in that period and I never thought they threatened our line to any great degree in that first half.

It was a good team performance. I emphasise the word team – that’s what I’m trying to build. The forwards did their job manfully and the halfbacks, most notably Lee Marsh, helped the forwards out. Ian Watson and Dave McConnell were a constant thorn doing what they do and we had enough quality outside to finish those scores off as well.

Our kickers without being too awful to Featherstone, masterminded the kicking game and with the wind like it was that was a crucial thing to get on top with. The signs are good but we are not getting carried away with it.
