I’M not happy with losing by that sort of scoreline and we’ve got to look at our efforts in the final quarter where we ship too many tries in.

I don’t mind a good try but we’ve seen some that we should have stopped. The effort generally I’d commend but we played some dumb football at times and we’ve put in 95 per cent effort but that last 5 per cent - controlling the speed of the play-the-ball, being lively on attack but having composure in their ‘20’ when you get up there. That is the last five percent and once we get that we’ll turn the effort into a great win.

We talked about slowing the play the ball down legally and I’d be lying if I said I thought we did that in the second half. During those times they just got a roll on and were able to hit us behind the ruck because we’d still got players retreating. That’s something else we’ve got to look at.

It was an improvement from the last two games where we didn’t start well.

We scored a try without trying, if you can do that. That fuelled our belief and our confidence. We played behind that and if we’d kicked our goals it would have been virtually level pegging.

I’m very happy with our efforts up to half time. We’ve got to learn to stop putting dumb effort in and start giving some intelligence to the effort and maybe that’s when we’ll get the scores and the wins.
