WE always expected a tough game at Batley and that’s just what we got. But I thought we made it harder for ourselves through our own generosity and some ill-discipline at times.

But cream always rises to the top and with the quality of players we’ve got I was always confident that we’d win the game.

I was a bit disappointed to go in at half time 16-16 when we’d been in control at 16-0. We’d totally dominated the first half hour but then took our foot off the pedal and paid for it. The half time team talk was quite simple really; all we had to do was to return to the little things we’d got right and done well for the majority of the first half.

I think we won the game in the first few minutes of the second half with those two tries and although be had another bit of a wobble when they closed the gap to six points, I knew that if we kept our patience and shape we’d be OK.

Looking at the players we’ve had missing today, if I’d been offered a win at Batley I’d have snatched their hands off.
