It was a very hard-fought win.

We made hard work of it through our ill discipline, through our lack of grey matter at times.

It’s nice to get a win, it’s nice to have the character in the side that I’ve touched upon in previous weeks to get the win, but I think we could have saved ourselves a lot of effort if we’d have just done things a bit smarter early on in the game.

The interception wasn’t the perfect way to start the second half.

Ridyard has got to learn to make the correct decision on his passes and maybe use his peripheral vision at times, maybe with a little more experience in the professional game he’d have seen the player jumping out of the line. We saw that from the dug-out but it was impossible to stop him from 50 yards away.

He’s honest enough to say it was a mistake that he made. Martyn did however show great attitude and composure to win the game. He’s a good player and every now and again at six, you throw some interceptions. We don’t want to throw too many of them, but it is part and parcel of the position.

Generally, I’m taking more negatives out of this game than positives.

The win is the big positive, the other positive is that when we went forward, we made good yards and created good play. But I do think at times we fall into the trap of playing side to side too much and we’ve got to get the balance right. You can’t play football unless you’ve got forward momentum.

I think we took a step back, I don’t think we were bending our backs enough in the tackle and consequently we were hitting a little high and I think we went away from what we’d been doing in training and what we’d been doing in previous weeks. I’d like to see us emulate what we do in training on the playing field.
