ATHERTON Collieries are looking ahead to Monday’s ‘flatcap derby’ with Atherton LR (3pm) confidently after a 5-1 win at in-form Hanley Town.

Colls, decimated with injuries and unavailability, delivered arguably their best display of 2014.

Gareth Peet gave Colls a deserved lead on 10 minutes with an exquisite free kick from the edge of the box.

Paul Atherton doubled the advantage 10 minutes later before the home side were reduced to 10 men.

Town replied from the penalty spot after keeper Tim Priestley had been sent off for a foul.

But Paul Atherton completed his hat-trick in the 53rd and 80th minutes to put Colls out of reach before Leece chipped in with the fifth.
