LEIGH Centurions have made another two new signings.

They have brought in Ben Reynolds from Castleford Tigers and Richard Beaumont from St Helens.

Reynolds, a full back or half back, joins the club on a free-transfer up until the end of November 2015.

Under the terms of the agreement between the two clubs, Castleford have first option to contract Ben for the 2016 season.

Prop forward Beaumont, whose career has been hindered by injury, arrives on a one-year contract with the option of a further year at the club’s discretion.

Goal-kicking Reynolds, aged 20, will link up with the Centurions on a full-time contract in time for the start of pre-season training in November.

“I’m excited, really excited, to be coming to Leigh,” Reynolds said. “It’s a great club and a great move for me and a big stepping stone in my career."

Reynolds made two Super League appearances for Castleford during 2014 and impressed on a dual registration contract with Kingstone Press Championship One League Leaders York City Knights.

He was joint Championship One Young Player of the Year, was one of the nominations for Championship One Player of the Year and also selected in the Championship One All Star team.

He scored seven tries and kicked 67 goals in 16 appearances for York during the season.

A former Knottingley and Featherstone Lions ARL product, Reynolds graduated through the ranks of the Castleford Tigers Academy and has been training full-time with the Tigers’ first-team squad since November 2012.

He said: " I loved it at York. They were a great set of lads but I’m looking to move forward and play at the best standard I can.

"I’ve been on a massive learning curve at Castleford and then during my time with York and I want to continue my progress.

“I’m really excited also at the prospect of linking up again with Ryan Brierley, who I played alongside in the under 20s at Castleford when I was only 17.

"If I can go some way to emulating the achievements of Ryan since he has joined Leigh I’ll be well pleased.”

Centurions head coach Paul Rowley said: “We already have the Championship Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in Martyn Ridyard and Ryan Brierley respectively and so to add to our squad the joint Championship One Young Player of the Year is a big statement of our intent as a club.

“Ben is a great young player with the potential to go a lot further in the game and he fits the profile of player we want to add to our squad.

"He plays in a pivotal role and we have kept close tabs on him since he was outstanding playing for York against our reserves side earlier this season.

"He adds cover and competition in two key positions and we are delighted to have secured his services for the 2015 season.”

The deal for Beaumont, aged 26, has been made possible through the support of LISA, the Leigh Independent Supporters Association which has sponsored many Leigh players over the years.

Beaumont was recently released by St Helens without playing a first-team game after one year of his two-year contract.

Born in Kingston upon Hull, Beaumont came through the junior ranks to make his Super League debut with Hull KR in 2011.

He made 19 first-team appearances for the Robins before moving to Saints. He played four games on dual registration for Rochdale Hornets during 2014.

An imposing prop forward, Beaumont is 6ft 3ins and weighs in just short of 16 stones.

Though troubled by injury throughout his career, Rowley has no doubts that he could still make his mark at the top level.

“Richard is a player we have had a close eye upon over the past few seasons,” Rowley said.

“He is a quality player with obvious physical attributes. Richard has been unlucky to have been plagued by injury but we are giving him an opportunity to make his mark at an intensely ambitious club and in a fantastic environment.

“It will be a tough challenge for Richard to make his mark here, but I am sure he will relish the chance he has been given. If he does come through, which I am sure he will, he will add competition and quality to an already immensely strong forward pack.”

Leigh Centurions Head of Rugby Derek Beaumont said: “Obviously there was the inconsistency of 2014 through injury but looking before that at his performances for Hull KR demonstrated Richard really is a good, solid Super League player which is why Saints acquired him from there in the first place. He runs hard, wins the floor and is dominant in his defence.

“Our medical team put Richard through a rigorous assessment which is undertaken by all our players and he came through that without issue leaving me, Paul and the team extremely excited to have Richard with us next year.

“He is the biggest lad at the club and comes into a core unit that already has some quality firepower which was very dominant this season. He will add to that and relish the opportunity of returning to playing in Super League with Leigh Centurions.

“I thank LISA for their continued support which enabled us to sign Richard. The continual support has brought in many players over the years and it is pleasing to see this continue going forward. We are extremely grateful to what LISA provides to the team in terms of increased playing budget for first grade and the reserves. Their members should feel very proud and part of the success to which they have contributed.”
