A TEAM Leigh Boxing Club coach has been recognised for his work throughout the year.

The club’s head coach Adrian Fleming was named the Greater Manchester Sports Coach of the Year 2014.

Fleming received his prize during an awards ceremony at Lancashire Cricket Club’s home, The Emirates Old Trafford, in Manchester on Friday.

Eight awards were handed out throughout the night with Olympians Ieuan Thomas, Diane Mohdal, Paula Dunne and many more in attendance.

An independent panel decided that Fleming would also receive the Greater Sport Be Inspired Award for his efforts in the past 12 months.

This accolade goes to the winner who is judged to be having the biggest impact on sport across Greater Manchester.

The Team Leigh head coach runs the highly successful Leigh Boxing Club at both Leigh Boxing and Fitness Gym in the town and also at Wigan Youth Zone.

The club has attracted a squad of around 45 boxers of varying abilities, from novice fighters to those competing on the international scene.

The club can also boast as many as six former Team Leigh boxers now cutting it in the professional ranks.

TEAM Leigh Boxing Club run daily boxing and fitness classes.

They take place at Leigh Boxing and Fitness Gym, on Scott Street, and at Wigan Youth Zone, on Parsons Walk.

The club hosts classes for boys and girls between the ages of four and 12 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5.30pm.

Senior classes take place for male and female boxers, aged 13 and above, every weekday evening between 6pm and 7.30pm.

Team Leigh Boxing Club are also now running a popular women-only bootcamp.

The hour-long sessions take place on Monday and Wednesday from 7.45pm.
