TONGAN superstar forward Fui Fui Moimoi was revealed as the Centurions marquee signing for 2015 at the weekend and head coach Paul Rowley sees only positives in the recruitment of the former Parramatta Eels front rower who achieved cult-status in Sydney.

“Players will respond," Rowley said.

"It’s going to bring a profile to the club. It has made us recognisable and reputable on both sides of the world, which is good for future recruitment.

“It’s also going to bring a profile to our other players as well because media attention will come, so hopefully it will draw the best from the other players.

“They are challenged by the news, they are encouraged by it and I always say that you need the right experienced players to do anything. I understand the value of experienced players but I also understand the value of young players as well.

"We are a young team and I think that we’ve got a good balance.”

Moimoi, who made more than 200 appearances in 11 seasons at Parramatta and was a duel international, having represented New Zealand before opting to play for his Native Tonga, joins other proven internationals in the Centurions' ranks from the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, Ireland's Bob Beswick and Oliver Wilkes and Sam Barlow, both of Scotland.

“We’ve got a good and sizeable squad," Rowley added.

"It’s all about performing on the day now. We are working hard and if we get the best out of everybody then we’ll be okay but there is a league full of other clubs with the same aspirations as ourselves so we’ll carry on that hard work.”

Fui Fui, aged 35 and looking forward to his first taste of English club rugby, will spend Christmas at home before flying over in the new year to link up with his new team-mates.

“He will join us in early January.” Rowley revealed. “He will join us for our pre-season camp.”

Rowley, who has seen a handful of his players laid low by a bug this week, was surprised to discover his achievements with the Centurions have been recognised among the top five personalities in the League Express Rugby League Yearbook.

“I’ve had the book on my desk for a few days and had no idea," he said.

“I’m absolutely buzzing about it. I don’t usually get so excited about stuff like that, but I’m made up.

"To share a double page with Sam Burgess and get named along with other personalities from the world of Rugby League - of all the people out there - I am just made up.

"It’s wonderful to have that accolade in recognition of what my team and my staff have done. I was really shocked and excited. To be recognised is wonderful and something no one can take away.

“It’s another example of people taking notice of us, in how our business is growing.

"It’s a privilege to be part of it.”
