LEGENDARY Tongan prop Fui Fui Moimoi – the Leigh Centurions marquee signing – will wear the number eight shirt when he kicks off his club rugby career in England next season.

The Centurions have announced their squad numbers for the coming season and confirmed that Oliver Wilkes will again captain the club after leading them to the League Leaders Shield and Grand Final double triumph in the Kingstone Press Championship .

Bob Beswick continues as vice-captain with fellow hooker Sean Penkywicz also promoted to that role. Steve Maden, who will be in his testimonial year, will wear 28 and at his own request prop Jake Emmitt, the 2014 Touchdown Club Player of the Year, retains 29.

Centurions head coach Paul Rowley said: “The squad numbers have been issued based on a mixture of loyalty, performance and intention. This is where the season will start but it is always interesting to see where and what numbers are in the team at the final hurdle.”

Among the players who have not been allocated squad numbers are Anthony Bate, Joe Bullock and Chris Hankinson who have all been loaned to Championship One club Barrow Raiders along with Josh Ward.

Jamie Tracey and Lewis Foster, who earned full-time contracts after impressing in the reserves, are also waiting to be allocated numbers.

Rowley added: “Both reserve-team players can earn a number later in the year if they have earned a spot or seized an opportunity.”
