ATHERTON moved up to fifth in the Bolton Association table following back-to-back wins at the weekend.

Jamar Griffith scored an unbeaten 81 to guide the Higham Park men a six-wicket win against Bury on Sunday.

He also hit 48 and took 4-28 on Saturday in a three-wicket victory over Blackrod, inflicting their first defeat of the season.

Astley and Tyldesley's weekend started well as Jordan O'Malley took 7-51 and Hemant Patel made 69 in a three-wicket win at home to Bury.

But A&T lost their 100 per cent record on Sunday in a 32-run defeat at the hands of big-hitting Walshaw, for whom Jack McClung made 195 and Gavin Nicholl scored 124 not out in their daunting total of 316-1.

Dave Harrision made 75 and Travis Wordsworth hit 58 in Astley's reply, but the overs ran out with two wickets remaining.

The defeat left A&T third in the table.
