ASTLEY & Tyldesley enjoyed a successful week's racing, taking one win and three second places in the four multi-team matches ridden.

The Gin Pit side contested round three of the Northern Fours and Junior League series at Heckmondwike, on Sunday.

A&T took a fine second place in the Northern Fours League match.

Reece Pollitt headed a solid scoring quartet, with excellent back up from Luke Jamson, captain Mark Mulvey and Ciaran Collins, as Team Green pipped Bury Comets for 2nd place.

Stockport won the match, to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Stockport 60 Astley & Tyldesley 45 Bury Comets 43 Heckmondwike 35 Hull 26 Bury Meteors 25.

Fours League standings: Stockport 17, Bury Comets 15, Astley & Tyldesley 11, Heckmondwike 9, Hull 8, Bury Meteors 3.

Meanwhile, A&T also took second place in the Northern Junior League match.

Bury ran away with the win on the day, but A&T finished comfortably ahead of the other three teams present. John White, Max Evans and Reece Pollitt all raced to 16 point maximum scores in the u10s, u13s and u19s matches respectively.

Junior League standings: Bury 15, Astley & Tyldesley 12, Hull 7, Heckmondwike 6, Stockport 5.

Elsewhere, Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 4 of the Manchester League Grand Prix series at Gin Pit on Wednesday.

A&T riders dominated the u-10s match, with A&T providing the top five scorers, as Charlie Burgess recorded his first ever maximum score.

Joe Quarmby lost only to Burgess, whilst John White lost only to Quarmby.

The u-13s match saw A&T's Max Evans losing only to the unbeaten Stockport rider Michael Preston.

A&T's Reece Pollitt and Sheffield's Adam Watson dropped one point each in the u-19 and u-16 categories respectively.

Defending Manchester League Division Two champions Astley & Tyldesley made it four wins out of four in this series.

A&T's top five scorers gave a near perfect display, dropping just two points to opposing riders.

Bury's Ben Scranage top scored in the Division 1 (senior) match. A&T's Radek Handke recorded three quick wins, including the fastest time of the night, but suffered a start exclusion in heat 7. Defending Division 1 champions Stockport narrowly edged out Astley & Tyldesley to take the win on the night.

On Sunday, A&T play host to Sheffield in a Northern League fixture. First race is at 2 pm at Gin Pit.
