TYLDESLEY dropped to eighth in the North Lancs/Cumbria Division after losing 22-0 at De La Salle – their second successive defeat.

They defended much better than in their previous outing – a 62-6 defeat at home to Bolton – but it was with ball in hand that caused the most concern.

Indecision and inexperience led to lack of direction, as they failed to threaten the host's line for the majority of a stop-start affair.

Although De La Salle struck first via a converted penalty, it was the visitors who held the upper hand for most of the first 15 minutes, but a mixture of good defence and bad choices with the ball led to no points being recorded.

Garry Molyneaux saved a certain try with a courageous tackle, but the visitors drove over a minute following a strong scrum and the kicker turned it into a seven-pointer.

Tyldesley gifted their opponents a second try, fielding an attempted kick into touch well, only to lose the ball unnecessarily and give De La Salle a clear run to the line for a second converted try.

After going into the break 17-0 down, Tyldesley restricted the hosts to just five points in the second half, which came within a couple of minutes of the restart.

A clearance kick was charged down, handing the Salford outfit another try.

Bongs battled for the remainder of the half and started to threaten for the last 10 minutes, with some improved play, but to no avail.
