LEIGH Miners Rangers enjoyed another week to remember as they were firstly honoured with a civic reception before scooping the two main Premier Division awards and the annual National Conference League dinner in Leeds on Saturday.

On Wednesday evening the club were recognised by the Borough’s Council Leader Lord Smith of Leigh and Mayor Cllr Susan Loudon in the reception, which honoured the achievements of the open age and women’s teams over the course of 2015. Lord Smith paid tribute to the club’s achievements and hailed the players, coaches and backroom staff and volunteers for their hard work.

On Saturday the team travelled to Leeds for the end of season awards evening where Scott O’Brien was named Premier Division Player of the Year, ahead of Siddal’s Shaun Garrod and Wath Brow’s Karl Dixon, the third Miners player to receive the individual accolade following Anthony Murray (2006) and Martyn Ridyard (2008) whilst Allan Coleman and Paul Whitworth were named as Premier Division Coaches of the Year. It rounded off the perfect year for the club with the end of season presentation evening at the Miners on 12th December promising to be a truly memorable occasion.
