ASTLEY & Tyldesley have enjoyed a busy week of cycle speedway competition.

A&T lined up in the u-10s British Club Championship Final at Wednesfield on the Bank Holiday weekend. John White rode to a terrific maximum score, winning all his four races, with Charlie Burgess and Jack Murray both winning races too.

In the end, a great effort by Team Green saw them take the bronze medal, an agonising four points adrift of the winners Kesgrave, who beat Poole in a run-off.

A&T took 2nd place in the final North Regional Round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Sheffield, on Saturday. However, this wasn’t enough to qualify for the National rounds later this summer. Sheffield’s win put them into 1st place in the final table, on 13 points, with Bury and A&T both on 12, but Bury going through on a higher race points total. Despite this disappointment, 11 A&T riders have qualified as individuals for their respective age category grand prix events. On the day, John White won the u-10s Grand Prix Final and Matt Snell won the u-14s Grand Prix Final.
