LOWTON martial arts club Kokoro Ju-Jitsu has launched their new Thursday classes for both juniors and adults, in addition to their existing classes on Mondays.

The club was established in 2017 by Sensei Ian Charlson and Sensei Steven Boughton; who each have over 30 years’ experience in Atemi Ju-Jitsu; and is located within Lowton Community Hub.

Combining traditional martial arts and self-defence techniques, they strive to create well rounded respectful martial artists, build confidence in their students and reach and empower as many people as possible with basic self-defence skills.

Offering separate adult and junior classes which range from learning self defence techniques and throws to traditional Japanese weapon katas or more competition style back-to-back and sport Ju-Jitsu. They pride themselves with creating a relaxed and comfortable environment so all students can excel and achieve their goals.

“At Kokoro we strongly believe that everyone should have the skills needed to defend themselves if necessary.

"It’s important to us that we pass on our knowledge to the wider community, our new class will enable us to do that.

"The extra junior and senior classes will enable us to take on more students and grow our club further.” Sensei Ian Charlson, Chief Instructor at Kokoro Ju-Jitsu.

Leigh Journal:

“For the last few years the dojo (training room) where we have our classes has been undergoing huge changes to become a state of the art martial art centre, so we jumped at the opportunity to launch an extra day at this incredible venue.

"We’ve got a lot of things planned for 2024, including relaunching our community self defence course, our new class is just the start of the exciting things to come.” Sensei Steven Boughton, Chief Instructor at Kokoro Ju-Jitsu.

“We are constantly talking about new ways to bring value to our students, and with two opportunities to grade every year it can become challenging for us to add too many new things to our schedule.

"This additional class means we can add in more variety, which our students love. We’ve already had a great response from all our club members, and we will be opening our doors to more students.

"So, if you’re interested in joining, get in touch.” Chris Charlson, Instructor at Kokoro Ju-Jitsu.
