Ben Reynolds on how Wembley can be stepping stone for Leigh

However, the Leopards half back admits lifting the famous trophy has already ticked off a major bucket list ambition.

“It is the best feeling,” said Reynolds who kicked four crucial goals, including a touchline conversion to Tom Briscoe’s second half try.

“I never thought when I was a young kid, this day would come. You dream about it and now it has come true, it is amazing.

“However, we are just building and building. I think we can get to the very top,” said Reynolds who made his debut for the then Centurions in 2015 and is currently in his third spell with the club.

“All the talk on the outside was Leigh just want to avoid relegation this season. Inside, we were confident what we could do.

“Obviously, we have achieved more than we thought but I believe we can do anything.

“Personally, I have had some big ups at this club and very big lows as well. But the last two years have been unbelievable.”

Matt Parcell’s last minute try and equalising Brad Schneider conversion almost threatened to turn Reynolds’ dream into a nightmare.

“It was gutting,” he said. “I saw people’s faces and I just thought ‘let’s get round each other.’ “We just had to start the process again because we knew another chance would come.

“I actually thought Gaz (O’Brien) had kicked it (drop goal attempt)and I started running towards him.

“Obviously he missed but you get back to the process. Besides, I never go into a game thinking we will lose.

“The whole match I looked around at my mates next to me and I never thought we would lose.

“The best part of this group is the friendship, the mate-ship. We always know we can get through anything, no matter what.”

Leigh end a six game run of away games when they welcome Super League leaders, Catalans Dragons, on Saturday.

“The fixtures haven’t done us any favours,” he agreed. “We won the semi final and had to play Wigan the week after. We win the final and then must play Catalans.

“But we will be ready to go.”
