NOW the busway is up and running and a success, where are all the moaning motorists who forecast it would be a flop?

Not only is it well used as a bus service, it has also opened up Tyldesley and given us a first-class footpath, bridleway, cycle track and a pleasant path to stroll along that is safe and dry underfoot.

The park and ride is also well used, with the Astley Street car park being full every weekday.

Maybe some of the motoring complainers are using it.

The buses are clean, comfortable and regular and have Wi-Fi installed.

All this has resulted in less vehicles being on the roads in our towns, which should satisfy the many former complainers.

What they have to realise is that the vast majority of road users are pedestrians, not car users.

Admit it people, you were wrong.

Well done to Transport for Greater Manchester – it has worked out great.
