I RECENTLY read an article in the Journal from a Leigh resident regarding the establishment of a dominant migrant community.
The defeat of extremism and hate crimes within our society depends on our town councillors standing firm and closely monitoring and maintaining our strong British cultural and civic institutions within the community.
As an example I single out Wigan Council’s willingness to abolish Christmas and Christian nativity scenes from shops, shopping centres and public buildings for the fear of offending different faiths and cultures.
I am personally convinced that it is only by upholding our core British laws, cultures, values and traditions that we can give this once great town of ours a route through all the very difficult challenges of becoming a cohesive multi-cultural society.
